- Artefact Type - Category 2: Building Furnishings - Household Accessory - An artefact originally created to be placed in or around a building for the convenience of people to enhance, complement or facilitate the maintenance of their environment. This classification includes small furnishings, such as soap dishes and spittoons, special household containers, such as vases and wastebaskets, and objects that protect furniture, such as antimacassars and table covers. The classification does not include artefacts intended primarily to communicate - they are classified as "Art" in Communications Artefacts - nor does it include devices used in a productive housekeeping activity, such as cooking maintenance.
