Advanced Taxonomy Search

The biodiversity database holds terrestrial and freshwater Antarctic and sub-Antarctic flora and fauna in support of the SCAR Life Sciences programme EBA (Evolution and Biodiversity in the Antarctic). For further details, see the EBA website. This database also holds marine data from the Australian Antarctic Programme.

Taxonomy Search

The search options are

enter a two part name and the search will be restricted to genus/species or

enter one word and both genus, species and sub-species names will be searched or

enter an initial letter for the genus followed by a full stop and then part of the species name. An example is A. forst will find all genus staring with A and species containing fort which will return amongst others, the Emperor Penguin. For this option, you must select the Scientific Type of search option.

A maximum of 1000 records are returned.
