This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Informal Antarctic/sub-Antarctic Gazetteer.
Created for use in Antarctic State of Environment Indicator 72 (Windmill Islands vegetation dynamics). Abundance of different plant groups was estimated using 20x20cm quadrats along seven transects following environmental gradients. Quadrats were grouped into seven distance groups (0%, 1-19%, 20-39%, 40-59%, 60-79%, 80-99% or 100%), where 0% is the first quadrat in each transect, located at the high, dry, lichen-dominated end of the transect; and 100% is the last quadrat in each transect, located at the low, wet, bryophyte-dominated end.
