La Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1960- 1961, que efectuó sondajes en la zona comprendida entre el paso Francés y el estrecho Penola, le puso el nombre por el apellido del capitán de fragata Eugenio Bravo Crawley Boevey, oficial de operaciones de la Expedición. Rocas que emergen a 8,7 millas al W del centro de la isla Hovgaard, frente a la costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
