El nombre probablemente le fue dado por el personal del DI, quienes levantaron un bosquejo de la punta en 1927. Fue levantada nuevamente por Expediciones Argentinas en 1942, 1943 y 1948. Punta baja y alargada de piedra negra, situada en el extremo NE de la isla Gamma, en el archipiélago Melchior.
