Descubierto por el RARE, 1947-1948, bajo el mando del capitán de fragata Finne Ronne quien llamó esta montaña por Charles Hassage, ingeniero del buque de la expedición. Monte de 5.500 pies de altura aproximadamente, situado cerca del extremo SW del acantilado Orville, al NW de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
