Descubierto por la Expedición Sueca de 1902-1904, que fue liderada por Otto Nordenskjöld, quien le dio este nombre por J. Lachman, uno de los auspiciadores de la expedición. Cabo situado en el extremo N de la isla Ross, lo forma una lengua de piedra baja y plana, al SE de la península Luis Felipe.
