Descubiertas por la Expedición Francesa de los años 1837-1840, que dirigió el capitán Jules Dumont D'Urville, quien las denominó así por el subteniente Antoine Pavin de la Farge, del buque "Zélée". Ellas fueron cartografiadas por el FIDS en el año 1946. Son dos rocas bajas separadas entre sí por 3 cables, y situadas a 2 millas al NNW de la roca Casy y a 6 millas al W del cabo Siffrey, extremo N de la península Luis Felipe.
