Narrative

Fue descubierta por la Expedición Antártica Belga, que dirigió el teniente Adrien de Gerlache, durante los años 1897-1899. El nombre aparece en un mapa basado en un levantamiento de 1927 hecho por personal del Discovery. El perfil de la isla vista del SW, aparece un león echado. Isla situada en la costa SE de la isla Anvers y a 1,5 milla al NE del cabo Astrup de la isla Wiencke, en el archipiélago de Palmer. Tiene aproximadamente 1,7 milla de largo por 1 milla de ancho, es alta y montañosa, con una altura de 411 metros. Sus costas son escarpadas, formadas por acantilados de hielo.
