Fue conocida por los cazadores de focas de esta área a comienzos de 1822, el nombre apareció colocado en una carta basada en el levantamiento realizado por el personal de la Discovery II el año 1935; debe su nombre a su forma. Isla situada a la entrada de bahía Luna en el lado E de la isla Livingston, en las islas Shetland del Sur. Mide 1 milla de largo, tiene 101 metros de altura, es de color oscuro y en ella se alzan tres cerros característicos que pueden constituir excelentes puntos de referencias.
