Descubierto por la Expedición Antártica Belga del comandante Adrien de Gerlache, que se efectuó entre 1897-1899, denominada en honor a Francisco Moreno, director del Museo de la Plata. Situado a 15 cables al NW de cabo Sterneck en la costa de Danco, al W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. Tiene 30 metros de altura.
