Descubierto por la Expedición Antártica Belga, que se efectuó entre los años 1897-1899, bajo la dirección del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, quien le dio el nombre en honor al General Neyt un auspiciador de la Expedición. Promontorio muy acantilado en la costa NE de la isla Lieja, a 2 millas al S de punta Moureaux en el archipiélago de Palmer.
