Fue descubierto por la Expedición Francesa de 1908-1910 al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, quien le dio el nombre del Sr. Perchot, un conocido, quien le donó 70 pares de botas para la Expedición. Monte de 2.040 metros de altura, coronado por una cumbre prominente que se orienta en una dirección N-S. Se levanta a unas 5 millas al SE de los picos Magnier entre el monte Chevreux y el monte Bigo en la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
