This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
During the summer, the river due to the plenty of water of the melting snow in Xi Hu flow to the low-lying enter of east coast flows through the cobblestone ground of the station area into sea. The water is clear and transparent and rich in rhyme. February 20 1985, when Great Wall Station was completed, the leader of the China Condolence Group, the director of the National Antarctic Research Committee Wu Heng who attended the opening ceremony named it Cui Xi.
