This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Dadiyuandian is the starting point of the mapping coordinate system of Zhongshan Station. In December 1988, when mapping members E Dongchen and Xu Shaoquan had landed and had chosen the site of Zhongshan Station, they established a concrete barrier on the bedrock on the south slope of the station area with the veneer of black marble. The center position of the pier was determined by the Satellite Doppler Positioning Method. The elevation of the pier is obtained from the original joint measurement of the standards on the Wolong Tan by the standard methods of measurement. Dadiyuandian is the reference point of China East Antarctic Mapping.
