This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The expedition, starting their trip from the Zhongshan Station to inland icecap, first has to walk along the ice ridge and snow slope on their way further south, which is at the snow-slope 258 metres away from the Zhongshan Station. The GPS Satellite Station where China first launched icecap investigation in the year 1996 and 1997 is on the slope and is used for monitoring inland ice-sheet. It was named when satellite images surveying and mapping in 1996.
