This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A hill, located on the northeast corner of Nelson Peninsula, only 62 meters above sea level, is steep and incapable of climbing. The hill is covered with black and dark red stones; it is an obvious land sign in the east end of Fildes Strait. It was named when aerial photos surveying and mapping in February 1986.
