The source of fresh water of the Zhongshan Station. During the process of China's first East Antarctica expedition group creating Zhongshan Station, there was an ice avalanche that put them in danger. At that time, the leader of the expedition Guoqun told everyone optimistically "not to worry" facing the difficulty and named this lake based on the scenic spot Mochou Lake in Wuhan. It was named when surveying and mapping in the January of 1989.
