Feature type: Rock
This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A group of weathered rocks to the north of Great Wall Station. Many cracks of the jagged stones are occupied by nesting petrels. While the leader of China's first Antarctic Expedition Dongcheng E was naming the place, Lianghua Yang, a journalist of 'Renmin Ribao(People's Daily)' suggested comparing the petrel to the phoenix, so the place was named 'Qifeng Yan (The Rock where the Phoenix Perches)'.
