A freshwater lake located 140 meters west of Great Wall Station office building. The lake is about 12,000 square meters, with an average depth of 5 meters. Every year during the Antarctic summer, in the valley area of the western slope, much snow and ice melt into the lake, and flows into the Changcheng Wan in the East through the low-lying river mouth. The lake is clear, and is the main water source of Great Wall Station. Because it is located in the west station, and at the same time there is an astronomical observation pier on the east coast. Its water flowing smoothly, the lake is like a mirror, reflecting mountains, and the charming landscape. Named by the China's first Antarctic Expedition team captain Guo Kun at the beginning of 1985 after the Hangzhou scenic spot West Lake.
