This name originates from Germany. It is part of the Germany Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The cove is shaped by Gauntlet Ridge and Spatulate Ridge and filled by the ice of Ridgeway Glacier, Lady Newnes Bay, Borchgrevink Coast, Victoria Land. Named during the German Antarctic North Victoria Land Expedition 1982/83 (Ganovex III).
Ice fog, very frequently occurring weather phenomenon in the cove.
