Narrative
The highest peak (Norwegian name Gessnertind) of Storkvarvet, N of Jökulkyrkja, located an the NE end of Mühlig-Hofmann-Gebirge, Fimbulheimen, Neuschwabenland, Dronning Maud Land. Discovered during German Antarctic Expedition 1938/39 ('Neuschwabenland-Expedition') under Alfred Ritscher.
Named For
Wilhelm Geßner († 1944), Chief Executive of Hansa Luftbild Company, published the first photorammetrically plotted map of Neuschwabenland.
