The E mountain chain (Norwegian name austre Petermannkjeda) of Petermannketten, ranging from the mountain Schneide at the N extremity, Deildenapen and Lyrittaren in the centre to Deildegasten at the S extremity, surrounded by the glaciers (austre) Svarthornbreen in the W and Deildebreen in the E, Wohlthatmassiv, Fimbulheimen, Neuschwabenland, Dronning Maud Land. Discovered during German Antarctic Expedition 1938/39 ('Neuschwabenland-Expedition') under Alfred Ritscher.
August Heinrich Petermann (1822-1878), German geographer, cartographer and publisher of the geographic journal 'Petermanns Geographische Mitteilungen'.
