Narrative

rising to 735m, 40km SW of Elephant Island, South Shetland Islands, was roughly charted by Bransfield in February-March 1820 (O'Briens Islands, q.v.) (Bransfield, chart, [1820b]); named Aspland's Island by Powell in December 1821, probably after Robert Aspland (1772-1845), English Unitarian divine (Powell, 1822b, p.11; chart, 1822a).
