rising to c. 2000m, E of Darbel Bay, Loubet Coast, following surveys by FIDS from "Detaille Island" in 1957 was named after Alfred Louis Bacharach (1891-1966), British food chemist, of Glaxo Laboratories Ltd, 1920-56 (President of the Nutrition Society, 1959), whose work on nutrition solved many problems of sledging rations, in association with the names of other biochemists and nutritionists grouped in this area (APC, 1959a, p.4).
