Ignacio Carro, of the Argentine Army, who traversed it in 1959 and who led the party that established the Argentine station "Teniente Matienzo" (Larsen Nunatak, q.v.) in March 1961 (APC, 1964, p.2; BAS 250 sheet SP 21-22/13, 1-DOS 1974).
