rising to c. 1100m on N side of Herbert Mountains, Shackleton Range, were photographed from the air by USN in 1967 and surveyed from the ground by BAS from Halley, 1968-71; in association with the names of glacial geologists grouped in this area, named after Dr John Kaye Charlesworth (1889-1972), Irish geologist; Professor of Geology, Queen's University, Belfast, 1921-54, and author of The Quaternary era, with special reference to its glaciation (London, 1957) (APC, 1974, p.3; BAS 250P sheet SU 26-30/1, 1-DOS 1978).
