rising to c. 1550m near head of Swann Glacier, Lassiter Coast, was seen from the air by RARE, 21 November 1947, in the reported position 74 03'S 65 20'W and named Mount Dana Coman after Dr F. Dana Coman, of Johns Hopkins University, Medical Officer with the First Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1928-30 (AGS map, 1948). Mount Coman (Ronne, 1948b, map p.357; USHO chart 1701S, 1954; [co-ordinates corrected] USGS sketch map Ellsworth Land-Palmer Land, 1969; APC, 1975, p.3). Mount Haag, as rejected name (Haag Nunataks, q.v.) (USBGN, 1949, p.11). Monte Coman (Argentina. MM chart N-"P"-1, 1952; Pierrou, 1970, p.255; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.80). Mt. Coman (France. SHM chart 5879, 1956). Gora Komen (Soviet Union. MMF chart, 1961). The mountain was photographed from the air by USN, 1965-67, and mapped from the air photographs by USGS.
