ESE of Arthur Harbour, Anvers Island, following air photography by FIDASE and survey by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit from HMS Protector, 1956-57, was so named from the large number of cormorants (Phalacrocorax atriceps) observed there (APC, 1959a; p.5; BA chart 3572, 12.viii.1960).
