E of Desolation Island, off Livingston Island, was known to nineteenth-century sealers who frequented Blythe Bay (q.v.) from 1820; roughly charted as Fildes Rocks (Fildes, 1821b, chart ); recharted by DI in 1935 and named descriptively Craggy Islet (Nelson and others, chart, 1935b; BA chart 1774, 9.vii.1948; APC, 1955, p.8).
