rising to 1700m and including Walsh Nunatak, Mount Axworthy, Dillon Peak, Galan Ridge, Mount Grimminger, Court Nunatak and Mount Cummings, between Mosby Glacier to NE and Meinardus Glacier and Haines Glacier to SW, Lassiter Coast, were photographed from the air by USN, 1965-67, and mapped from air photographs by USGS; in association with the names of other geologists grouped in this area, named after James Dwight Dana (1813-95), American geologist; Professor of Geology and Natural History, Yale University, 1864-90 (USGS sketch map Ellsworth Land-Palmer Land, 1969; APC, 1975 p.3),
