rising to c. 500m on S side of Saturn Glacier, Alexander Island, were photographed from the air by RARE in 1947 and roughly surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Stonington Island", 1948-49; mapped from air photographs by FIDS, in 1959; in association with the names of planets and their satellites in this area, named after Dione, a satellite of Saturn (APC, 1961, p.2; DOS 710 sheet 14, 1963; BAS 250P sheet SR 19-20/14, 1-DOS 1974).
