Originally named Saddleback Ridge informally by BAS geologist Alastair Linn (b, 1945). Here named after Ethelbert, 836-866, son of Ethelwulf, King of West Saxons and Kentishmen and effectively King of all England, 860-866, in association with names of other Saxon Kings of England in this area. (APC, 1997).
