between Cape Whitson and Cape Dundas, SE Laurie Island, was charted by SNAE, 25 September 1903, and named after John Fitchie, Second Mate in the expedition ship Scotia (Bruce and others, chart, [1903c]; Bruce, 1905b, map facing p. 322; BA chart 1775, 17.viii.1934; APC, 1955, p.10). Bahía Fitchie (Argentina. IGM map 104, 1933; Pierrou, 1970. p. 363). The bay was recharted by DI in 1933.
