N side of Destruction Bay, King George Island, was known to the sealers as early as 1821; charted by DI in 1937 and so named in association with North Foreland to the NW (Hill and others, chart, 1937b; BA chart 3205, 2.ix.1938; APC, 1959a, p. 6; DOS 610 sheet W 62 56, 1968). Isla Foreland (Argentina. IGM map, 1946). Isla Promontorio [translation of English name] (Chile. DNH chart L, 1947). Foreland Islet (BA, 1948, p. 150; APC, 1955, p.10). Islote Promontorio (Argentina.
