between Moreton Point and Return Point, W Coronation Island, was roughly charted by Powell and Palmer in December 1821; recharted by DI in 1933; following survey by FIDS from Signy, 1947-49 and 1950-51, named after the Antarctic fulmar or silver-grey petrel (Fulmarus glacialoides) nesting in large numbers in this area (APC, 1955, p.10; DOS 510 South Orkney Islands, West Sheet, 1963).
