Narrative

A small island off the Cook Ice Shelf on the coast of George V Land. Photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1958). Named by the Soviet Expedition after G. Kh. Popp, German meteorologist who perished in the Antarctic.
