Narrative

rising to c. 950m on SE side of Wright Ice Piedmont, Davis Coast, was photographed from the air by FIDASE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Hope Bay", 1956-57; in association with the names of pioneers of aviation grouped in this area, named after Lawrence Hargrave (1850-1915), Australian inventor of the box-kite and other fixed-wing flying machines, and pioneer of rotary aero-engines, 1884-1909 (APC, 1960, p.4; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974).
