James Gordon Hayes (1877-1936), English polar historian; author of Antarctica: a treatise on the southern continent (London, 1928) and The conquest of the South Pole (London, 1932) (BA chart 3570, 27.vi.1954; APC, 1955, p.11; DCS 601 sheet 66 64, 1955). Monte Hayes (Argentina. MM chart 110, 1957). The feature was further surveyed by BAS from "Stonington Island", 1963-64.
