NW side of Sherratt Bay, King George Island, following surveys by FIDS from "Admiralty Bay" from 1948 and air photography by FIDASE in 1956, was named after the Hektor Whaling Company which operated a land station at Whalers Bay, Deception Island, 1912-31, and worked chiefly in the waters of the South Shetland Islands (APC, 1960, p.4; DOS 610 sheet W 62 56, 1968).
