rising to c. 1185m on NE side of Satellite Snowfield, Alexander Island, was photographed from the air by RARE in 1947 and mapped from air photographs by FIDS in 1959; in association with the names of other composers and with the names of planets in this area, named after Gustav Theodore Holst (1874-1934), English composer of works including the suite The planets (1918) ([in 71°20'S 70°06'W] APC, 1961, p.3; DOS 710 sheet 14, 1963; Searle, 1963, end map; [correctly positioned] BAS 250P sheet SR 19-20/13, 1-DOS 1974; APC, 1977, p.17). Gora Kholst (Soviet Union. AA, 1966, Pl.24). The peak was correctly positioned following the availability of USLANDSAT imagery of January 1973.
