SW end of Barilari Bay, Graham Coast, was photographed from the air by FIDASE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Prospect Point", 1956-57; in association with the names of pioneers of skimountaineering grouped in this area, named after Fritz Huitfeldt (1851-1938), Norwegian skier; author of Lerbuch des Skilaufens (Berlin, 1890), one of the earliest skiing manuals, and designer of the Huitfeldt ski-binding, the standard binding from 1894 to c. 1935 (APC, 1959a, p.7; BA chart 3573, 26.viii. 1960).
