rising to c. 2245m near E end of Protector Heights, Loubet Coast, was photographed from the air by FIDASE, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Detaille Island", 1958-59; in association with the names of biochemists and designers of sledge rations grouped in this area, named after Justus von Liebig (1803-73), German pioneer of physiological chemistry, whose work on metabolism and food constituents laid the foundation for modern nutrition studies (APC, 1960, p.5; BA, 1961, p.187; BAS 250P sheet SQ 19-20/10, 1-DOS 1979).
