Narrative

NE of Two Hummock Island, Palmer Archipelago, was roughly charted by BeAE in January 1898; following air photography by FIDASE in December 1956, and in association with the names of seals and whales grouped in this area, named after the crabeater seal (Lobodon carcinophagus) (APC, 1960, p.5; BA chart 3560, 7.iv.1961). Islote Cordovez, so called by CAE after Capt. (N) Enrique Cordovez Madariaga, Chilean hydrographer, sometime Chief of IHA and President, Sociedad Científica de Chile (Chile. DNH chart 1501, 1962; IHA, 1974, p.84).
