in Crystal Sound off Darbel Bay, Loubet Coast, were photographed from the air by FIDASE, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Detaille Island" in September 1958; in association with the names of glaciologists grouped in this area, named after Ukichiro Nakaya (1900-62), Japanese physicist and Professor of Physics, University of Hokkaido, 1932-62, who made classic investigations of the structure and properties of single ice crystals and snow-flakes (APC, 1960, p.6; BA chart 3571, 14.vii.1961). Nakaya Island [sic] (BA, 1974, p.198).
