SE point of Rongé Island, Errera Channel, Danco Coast, was roughly charted by BeAE in February 1898 and called Cap Charles after Capt. Charles Lemaire (Lemaire Channel, q.v.) (Lecointe, map, 1899; 1903, Carte 5; 1905, Pl.22 following p.110). Cape Charles (Cook, 1900, map p.xx). Cabo Charles (Argentina. MM chart 106, 1949). Cabo Clark [sic], presumably in error (Argentina. MM, 1953, p.249). The point was photographed from the air by FIDASE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Danco Island", 1956-57. Cabo Carlos (Argentina. MM chart 129, 1957). To avoid confusion with Charles Point (q.v.) the feature was renamed Sherlac Point from an anagram of Charles (APC, 1960, p.7; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974).
