between Mensa Bay and Cape Lookout, SW Elephant Island, following survey by JSEEI in December 1970, was named for the giant petrel (Macronectes giganteus) which breeds there, stinker being a sailor's name for the bird (DOS 610 sheet W 61 54 (Ext.), 1 GSGS 1972; APC, 1974, p.6). Punta Hedionda [translation of English name] (Argentina. MM chart H 710, 1977).
