Narrative

off N end of Alamode Island, Terra Firma Islands (q.v.), was surveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island" in 1948 and so named from the branching nature of the dyke system exposed on its N face (APC, 1955, p.21; DOS 610 sheet W 68 66, 1963). The name Terra Firma II Island apparently refers to this rock (Nichols, 1953, p.56).
