This name originates from Japan. It is part of the Japan Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The northeastern most island in the Ongul Syotô (Flatvær). Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936-37. Surveyed by JARE in 1957, and named Kita Zima (north island).
