Narrative

A completely snow-covered island lying 3 km north of Botnneset. First mapped as the northern extremity of Botnneset by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936-37. LANDSAT images of 1974 and air photos taken by JARE in 1983 revealed that the area is an island separated from Botnneset. The JARE Headquarters named Yuki Sima (snow island).
